Charts view

Custom charts can be created across multiple categories, metrics, or time intervals.

About this task

See Understanding Performance Management for an overview of Unisphere Performance Management.

The Charts view provides the capability to create user-definable charts. A list of metrics dynamically changes based on your selections in the table. The metrics list can display:

KPI Metrics Lists the key performance indicators that correspond to the column headings in the current table.
All Metrics Lists all available metrics for the selected object in the table.

The All Array Charts view allows you to easily draw charts for any active array without having to go to the performance section for an individual array.

When you select a particular system, component, or both, for which you want to create a chart, the instances per category are listed in order of how active they are, according to the default KPI displayed in the drop-down menu. The default KPI used depends on the component type but you can select a different KPI, as required.

NOTE: For large charts that have 24 legend items or more, a generated PM report does not display as a chart but instead displays as a table. This is for readability or legibility purposes.

To create a chart:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Performance > Charts.
  3. Select an appropriate custom time range.
  4. In the Instances section, select the systems, component, or both, types for which you want to create a chart.
  5. Optional: If required, click Filter icon to filter the list of selected instances by name.
You can also filter the instances by the value of a particular metric. Host IOs/sec is the default metric. You can choose a different metric from the Sort By Metric drop-down list.
  6. Select the component instances. Multiselect is available.
  7. In the Metrics section, select one or more metrics. By default, KPIs are displayed. To display the full list of metrics, select All. You can filter the list of metrics that are displayed by typing characters in the text box.
You can select multiple metrics, however, the more you select, the less readable the chart is.
  8. Click Create.
Depending on the selected options, you might be given a choice of different types of charts to create. The options available are:
    • One Chart
    • One Chart per Instance
    • One Chart per Metric
Select an appropriate option and click Create.
  9. Optional: Customize the chart. For more information, see Customize a chart.
  10. Optional: Customize the chart view in which the chart is displayed. For more information, see Customize the tabbed Charts view.
